We lost some great people off the planet.
For all of the loss, I think it’s important to focus on the good that we all can share.
For starters, I have had to ‘get better’ at writing.
This is a niche audience and its filled with those people that I LET around me who will ‘get’ the references I make, the history I talk about and share in the victories that only you and I can truly take to heart.
I have watched COUNTLESS trolls come across here, fishing for information and I can tell you that it is the GREATEST FEELING knowing that I can be secure (no names, places etc) without degrading the true writing spirit of what has proven to be a constant companion of mine for over a decade.
With that in mind, if gives me great pleasure to pen the first entry of 17.
So, work has ticked up. With the signaling of OPEC that they are going to start to wind down, this has caused cautious optimism in the industry. What can I say, I’M THRILLED! It is about time that OPEC ‘GOT IT’ that we aren’t going to be pushed around by them or anyone else….we have the capability here in America to be completely self-sufficient and detached from the dependency and fiscal RACKET that OPEC is…I couldn’t be happier.
This caused my schedule to be FILLED towards the end of the year and that meant I couldn’t do a holiday post. HOWEVER… we hosted our first New Years Eve party at the Clearwater Campus and it was fantastic. It was great to accompany the year out and celebrate all of the milestones we had met and surpassed.
The first of the year, Hayden is back in Basketball and Hayley…..
Lol I am just busting to tell this to someone so I can tell you guys since I know it’s relatively safe: GOT PICKED TO BACKUP DANCE FOR …so that I won’t set off the search engines…. An artist who’s name is the sound a baby makes!
We will just call her “AN Artist” from here on out ok? We are required to not post the words, for security reasons until after the ‘sporting event to be held in Houston this year ;)’
Yep…she’s been practicing since she got the news…every morning before school and every evening after school with her crew.
Pepsi, at ‘An Artist’s’ request through her Studio e l e v e n (lol Search engines ;) ) had a contest of state high school dance lines…
And…… you guessed it…hers WON!
So aside from her mom and I being…. Lol floored hahah As we had our first date during Monster Ball (front row, US Airways, Phoenix), there is so much we want to tell her about….lol so much…
I think she kinda started to catch on when I sent her and her mom to Taylor in late ’15…. Music matters for everyone.
She is WELL AWARE….of politics.
Since learning the news, that ‘An Artist’ was going to play the sporting event here this year, I have been VERY nervous and following her at near stalker levels lol.
Everybody knows she is a champion for LBTG rights and the queer community.
AND everybody knows that here in Texas we are VERY CLEAR about how we feel about that kind of thing.
In Texas we take our politics and our gender identity straight, uncomplicated and one at a time…just like our single-malts.
The GOOD NEWS is the fact that NO TEXAS TEAMS will be competing in the event. Therefore the probability of ‘An Artist’ being BOOED back to the STONE AGE is small.
That being said, I am still a little nervous. This is something that little girls and young women dream about. ‘An Artist’ has already said publicly “this is something I have been planning since I was four years old.”
Great. However, it’s important that you keep your political rhetoric to yourself. Last year when Beyonce, one of ‘An Artist’s’ closest friends, decided that she would perform her “X Formation” in her performance, it resulted in Boo’s and an ONSLAUGHT of political and financial pitfalls for the host organization.
The ‘Organization’ has just yesterday formally told ‘An Artist’ that she was NOT to bring politics into her performance…. Not even a little bit.
That being said, if you are worth your weight in salt in Psychology or really any other discipline, you know that it is human nature, when you are told ‘no,’ to want to do that thing anyway….it just makes you want it that much more.
So while the winter progresses here in The Bayou City, we wait in the wings with heightened anticipation as to what will happen during those 12 pivotal minutes of international focus.
Based on the choreography I have seen, the numbers she will most likely perform are: ‘Born This Way,’ ‘Bad Romance,’ and ‘Telephone.’
I am not allowed, even on this targeted level, to tell you what the costumes look like but all I can say is “Wow” and if there was ever a time when America needs to come together….it’s now.
I hope that ‘An Artist’ will heed that call and do something that is on the level of all performances I have seen her do since that first date Angela & I went on….. we shall see.

Update: Confirmed 'Born This Way' will be second song. 'Telephone' and 'Bad Romance' all confirmed. Rumored: 'A Million Reasons.' Costume for field backup dancers is 'Casual' as they will be holding up some sort of lighting device: 'Torches.'
.......aaaaannnnd the collective parents hold their breath... lol We'll see!!
