Ten Years: WHAT .....a ride!
Ten years ago today (December 3rd) and tomorrow (December 4th) I set sail upon the arduous process of pulling myself out of the isolation from delayed onset PTSD.
As I grow older and now have time to reflect on what a harrowing journey it was, I am able to take into account some of the things I was up against and some of the people who broke through the cycle in order to give me a hand up rather than simply a hand out.
Each and every step was an un-sure one.
It’s like stepping out onto the beach from a ship that has just crossed an ocean.
You feel the sand beneath your feet but some of it is unsettled and crumbling…so you take another step….and then another… and then another.
One after the other as you begin to understand what life is really about and the direction you choose to take.
I have met a ton of people since I left that house up in Seattle.
I have made some ‘choices’ in people.
They made some choices of their own based upon who they saw in front of them at the time…using their best judgements and in the best interests of their own lives and their own paths.
My ancestors themselves came over on boats as they fled Nazi’s and were just as unsure of themselves and their lives as I was when I landed in ‘The Valley Of The Sun’.
They faced similar hardships and sacrifices and fought for everything they had.
They served in world wars and steeled the American resolve here at home when they were too old to fight.
Along the way, I have channeled their spirits.
I have fulfilled the hopes and dreams of their endeavors to bring their children a better tomorrow…and watch their grandchildren grow strong and thrive.
I have built a mighty empire here in God’s country from humble beginnings…making good on promises long forgotten to the people who doubted I would make it….told me to my face, “You will never____.”
Today, it is more than a spiteful reprise to ill-informed persons of little faith in me.
Rather, it is a forgiving nod and tip of the hat…An acknowledgement that all things are cyclical in life and that real work produces TANGILBE results that we all can reach out and touch….
In my home, my acreage, my kids and my amazing wife.
So, here we are .
“If you had to do it all over again would you?”
I get asked that a lot.
……..
……
So many memories run through my head….
The people, the places, the lessons and the work.
“See the thing is” about this life… is that we don’t GET a chance to go back and do it over again.
I can attest to that from all of the battle buddies I have lost along the way who thought that the journey was just too hard.
God puts people in your life FOR A REASON.
So EACH ONE of the PEOPLE who I have been BLESSED to know…. Have served some kind of purpose.
So yes…. I would do it again.
The road has been difficult at times but I have come to believe over time that every person on this planet is basically good.
The circumstances we all find ourselves in during our time on earth can prove to be things that we aren’t prepared for in the moment…but that make us all better people.
I am a better PERSON for knowing each of the people who have been in my life along the way.
I have taken some time away during the run up to this post trying to figure out how to let the words come out.
It’s dangerous for me to post, given the position I now hold and will hold in future promotions because of the ease of internet searches these days but I think this is a safe one.
Posterity is Biblical…. We MUST mark the milestones in our lives….and take great celebration in the means God has granted us with.
Therefore, I will put this up here…. To mark time.
I know who will read it other than myself.
There are still a few souls I can see that check up on me from time to time and I am grateful for that.
Some of the same lives that have helped shape me today.
So, here “we are”…..
Ten years later.
I no longer “suck at life” as hardcore as I used to….
But it is thanks to all of you…even some that are looking in down from heaven who I know will read this.
I love you and miss you… every last one of you.
I hope that this finds you well and that you hold your loved ones close and the departed closer in your heart.
Have a happy holiday season and stay safe.
Here’s to a crazy CRAZY decade filled with twists and turns and a whole lot of LIFE that I wouldn’t give up for anything.
Here’s to us, our crazy paths in life and this crazy ride we all call life!

Last year was a tough one.
We lost some great people off the planet.
For all of the loss, I think it’s important to focus on the good that we all can share.
For starters, I have had to ‘get better’ at writing.
This is a niche audience and its filled with those people that I LET around me who will ‘get’ the references I make, the history I talk about and share in the victories that only you and I can truly take to heart.
I have watched COUNTLESS trolls come across here, fishing for information and I can tell you that it is the GREATEST FEELING knowing that I can be secure (no names, places etc) without degrading the true writing spirit of what has proven to be a constant companion of mine for over a decade.
With that in mind, if gives me great pleasure to pen the first entry of 17.
So, work has ticked up. With the signaling of OPEC that they are going to start to wind down, this has caused cautious optimism in the industry. What can I say, I’M THRILLED! It is about time that OPEC ‘GOT IT’ that we aren’t going to be pushed around by them or anyone else….we have the capability here in America to be completely self-sufficient and detached from the dependency and fiscal RACKET that OPEC is…I couldn’t be happier.
This caused my schedule to be FILLED towards the end of the year and that meant I couldn’t do a holiday post. HOWEVER… we hosted our first New Years Eve party at the Clearwater Campus and it was fantastic. It was great to accompany the year out and celebrate all of the milestones we had met and surpassed.
The first of the year, Hayden is back in Basketball and Hayley…..

Lol I am just busting to tell this to someone so I can tell you guys since I know it’s relatively safe: GOT PICKED TO BACKUP DANCE FOR …so that I won’t set off the search engines…. An artist who’s name is the sound a baby makes!

We will just call her “AN Artist” from here on out ok? We are required to not post the words, for security reasons until after the ‘sporting event to be held in Houston this year ;)’
Yep…she’s been practicing since she got the news…every morning before school and every evening after school with her crew.
Pepsi, at ‘An Artist’s’ request through her Studio e l e v e n (lol Search engines ;) ) had a contest of state high school dance lines…
And…… you guessed it…hers WON!
So aside from her mom and I being…. Lol floored hahah As we had our first date during Monster Ball (front row, US Airways, Phoenix), there is so much we want to tell her about….lol so much…
I think she kinda started to catch on when I sent her and her mom to Taylor in late ’15…. Music matters for everyone.
She is WELL AWARE….of politics.
Since learning the news, that ‘An Artist’ was going to play the sporting event here this year, I have been VERY nervous and following her at near stalker levels lol.
Everybody knows she is a champion for LBTG rights and the queer community.
AND everybody knows that here in Texas we are VERY CLEAR about how we feel about that kind of thing.
In Texas we take our politics and our gender identity straight, uncomplicated and one at a time…just like our single-malts.
The GOOD NEWS is the fact that NO TEXAS TEAMS will be competing in the event. Therefore the probability of ‘An Artist’ being BOOED back to the STONE AGE is small.
That being said, I am still a little nervous. This is something that little girls and young women dream about. ‘An Artist’ has already said publicly “this is something I have been planning since I was four years old.”
Great. However, it’s important that you keep your political rhetoric to yourself. Last year when Beyonce, one of ‘An Artist’s’ closest friends, decided that she would perform her “X Formation” in her performance, it resulted in Boo’s and an ONSLAUGHT of political and financial pitfalls for the host organization.
The ‘Organization’ has just yesterday formally told ‘An Artist’ that she was NOT to bring politics into her performance…. Not even a little bit.
That being said, if you are worth your weight in salt in Psychology or really any other discipline, you know that it is human nature, when you are told ‘no,’ to want to do that thing anyway….it just makes you want it that much more.
So while the winter progresses here in The Bayou City, we wait in the wings with heightened anticipation as to what will happen during those 12 pivotal minutes of international focus.
Based on the choreography I have seen, the numbers she will most likely perform are: ‘Born This Way,’ ‘Bad Romance,’ and ‘Telephone.’
I am not allowed, even on this targeted level, to tell you what the costumes look like but all I can say is “Wow” and if there was ever a time when America needs to come together….it’s now.
I hope that ‘An Artist’ will heed that call and do something that is on the level of all performances I have seen her do since that first date Angela & I went on….. we shall see.
-M
Update: Confirmed 'Born This Way' will be second song. 'Telephone' and 'Bad Romance' all confirmed. Rumored: 'A Million Reasons.' Costume for field backup dancers is 'Casual' as they will be holding up some sort of lighting device: 'Torches.'

.......aaaaannnnd the collective parents hold their breath... lol We'll see!!

Watching someone die.
Hollywood does it best to lend dramatics to the undeniable event that we all are destined for. I have a wide variety of target readers here on the Public Side so it is safe to say that amongst us here…. We have all known someone, or been a part of an experience in which a person has died suddenly and unexpectedly.
I can only tell you the story of my own walk with death in the highest of hopes that we all find a type of communal identity and trust that keeps us coming back here year after year.
~Backstory (How Death Snuck Up On Me)~
I left here (Houston) and said goodbye to a post-undergrad life in which Big-Power were the powerhouses of the downtown skyscrapers. Duke, Enron, Royal-Dutch(Shell), British Petroleum (BP) and Exxon all were major players here and the burgeoning technology bubble was on the cusp of bursting. Lucent, Cisco….all the tech-heavy NASDAQ had their biggest representations east of the Grand Canyon.
I worked as a server not too far away from where I am typing these words right now. I lived with my college room-mate and life was simple. A ton of good-times as what limited money we did have flowed as effortlessly as the beer in our favorite upscale bars downtown during happy hour.
However, the way I was raised and later in the Marines, I was taught to always ALWAYS pay attention to what is going on in the environment around me….and I knew that this environment couldn’t last..and I needed a Masters.
SO…we all know the story, I lost my mind and went in The Marines as a means to have Uncle Sam pay for a majority of it. Sure enough, in the spring of the following year (2001), big energy experienced its rolling blackouts as price gouging was uncovered, de-regulation was born and Enron came crashing down, pulling Arthur Anderson along with it as it collapsed into the streets we strolled down merrily with our beers not even a year before.
I wish I could tell you that I was some hardass Texas Cowboy who joined up like Chris Kyle (my SEAL brother who protected me…we’ll get to that) of ‘American Sniper’ did. But…my story is far less romantic… I only went in because after being raised in an economically repressed, struggling mining port in the Midwest, I knew that The American Dream was elusive and would take skill and cunning to capture…..I knew that the only way to do that was with graduate education.
And so the story goes….went to tech school (29 Palms...that’s High-Desert between Palm-Springs and the San Bernardino California Basin for all you non-Cali folks out there ;) ) and then was stationed with 1st Marines at Pendleton. 1st Marines is as we call it the “Front lines” or where the actual fighting takes place. There are other divisions, 2nd & 3rd…..Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Okinawa, Japan respectively.
Division Marines tip the spear…we are the “Fist fighter”/scrappers that are trained in close-in combat arms as well as marksmanship that allow for “dispatching” combatants at a distance. Even with our skills, and in the highest interest of preserving modesty, we still benefitted from the SEALS (like Chris Kyle) who would operate independently of us and clear our way and path ahead from dug-in insurgents who were hell bent on sending us all back in boxes. Chris Kyle’s simple response to that notion exemplifies what many Texan’s, including myself thought about the terrorist agenda as a whole, “Fuck that…” … and ‘The Devil Of Ramadi’ was born. May he rest in peace up there. We 1st Marines that he protected will never EVER stop telling his story, weather it is in the process of telling our own or on its own. Will leave that thought here.
So, the story continues that I was out with 1st Marines in 29 Palms shooting Howitzers and chasing Jakelopes on the morning of 9/11. Before that morning, I was going to school at night via computer and making good on the promise to myself and my family of getting my graduate school knocked out.
Then everything changed.
I think that I can say that on the whole 9/11 took a small part of all of us. It took part of our innocence, it took a part of our feelings of safety, it put college plans on hold, it caused common men and women to be “moved to join” and there was a general cohesiveness attached to this event that was designed with hate in its heart.
I didn’t get to continue with college…that would have to wait. From that moment on, 1st Marines sole focus was preparation for deployment…..our first…my one and only…the “Initial Invasion.”
~Deployed Death~
As a person who has personally arranged the meeting of “bad guys” with…. ‘Their God’…As a former EMT in Undergrad and now in my life away from those things; I can tell you this: When people die….it’s NOT like you see in the movies.
I remember when I was 10 or 11, my parents brought us down for the funeral of my grandparents on my dad’s side. I remember the visitation and seeing my first dead body. My grandparent seemed so peaceful….like they were sleeping. For the longest time I believed that this was the face of death.
Then, in undergrad, I saw my first vehicular homicide stemming from a drunk driving incident…and it BLEW MY MIND! I was only 24. 4 year later, when I entered the Marines, you would think that working at a Fire Department would get me ready for seeing death. ….not like this it didn’t.
Being witness to a VIOLENT death can systematically and profoundly change a person from top to bottom; inside and out. Combat Trauma has been studied so much over the decades since its effects began to profoundly show up in Vietnam Veterans as a serious factor in society after wars.
Make no mistake, I have seen the worst of it. I have seen my fellow soldiers ripped apart in so very many ways…it was a little easier for me than most…I have seen how profoundly the human body can change at high speeds in a car…. And while in combat, how bodies could change when a supersonic projectile was introduced into it.
Very sad….and worth a moment of pause…while I have overcome the trauma and learned how to introduce feeling back into the equation (to be sad for other people’s loss), I haven’t always been this way and there are so very many vets out there who either “quit trying” to heal that part of them or they simply deny that anything is wrong…until it eats them alive.
I was blessed. I continue to be blessed. I used to tell my squad when they asked me if I was afraid to die, “I’m not going to die….cuz I’m a righteous mother-fucker!” but in all honesty (and honesty is what I want to bring to this scroll) there was fear.…fear of dark houses that someone was hiding in who wanted to kill me, dark caves, spider holes, IED’s crammed up a dead animals butt on the side of the road….
What they don’t tell you on the civilian side is that you are “Supposed to pack fear” in our deployment essentials. People’s understanding of true, raw fear has captivated mankind since the dawn of man.
If someone tells you that they aren’t afraid of anything…..keep your eye on that person because they are either: 1. Crazy or 2. Lying.
Fear is essential as it causes our bodies to become alert, poised, calculated and anticipatory. It dumps adrenaline into an animal’s bloodstream allowing for super-human feats of strength and agility in times of dynamic-chaos. It is a WELCOME friend for the well trained and adequately disciplined Marine as well as any well-adjusted person.
That being said, walking beside death and ushering insurgents into their afterlife was just a “Thing” I did as part of my job…..It was “either them or me” ….and it sure as shit wasn’t going to be me.
~Home/Garrison/Stateside Death~
That being said, after you have walked in what most Marines call “the valley of the shadow” of death and become so intimate with your humanity; that is to say embraced your vulnerable-ness as a human being, life becomes a gift that you GET to experience every day.
You feel every second of the ticking clock, you praise God for each sunset, you TAKE PICTURES and lots of them, you hug your family members just a little tighter and you genuinely enjoy the people that you choose to have in your life and the time you spend with them.
Because time is precious, life is precious. Many people here in the “safe” United States don’t get that and it’s because of the sacrifice of our veterans who fought and died to give them that sense of security.
So we choose….the people that we surround ourselves with….what they didn’t tell many of us that eventually were diagnosed with delayed-onset PTSD is that you are going to make poor choices. Because you are busy living your life for each moment, you don’t take the time that it takes to really established a person’s background. While everything is 20/20 in retrospect, the diminished judgment and the risky behavior of un-diagnosed combat veterans afflicted with PTSD often ends terribly. Terrible decisions, terrible choices, terrible outcomes.
22 Veterans a day feel like this life is too much for them to handle and “check out’ to the afterlife and I have seen FAR too many of my brothers and sisters lose the battle with their inability to walk in this plain of existence after having to say goodbye to so many human beings either through combat or through some other medium.
I have lost close friends in combat. I have lost ex’s who, regardless of my disagreements with them or our past together, I still cared for on some very basic human levels….in the end it’s not their fault(s) that we didn’t work out. Although many of you don't like me saying it, these were not the "Questionable choices" I made in the throws of my early years of PTSD... THESE ARE GOOD PEOPLE....in some form or fashion, I saw the good in them and wanted to be close to that because on some inner-level I wanted to believe that I was good too. One of my ex's moms used to say, "Everyone has something to offer the rest of us." I have spent a good part of my late 30's and early 40's trying to convince a majority of you that "it's nobody's fault" that a Combat Veterans make these choices in people or that my ex's chose me....our being together simply wasn’t meant to be and that my basic human-being caring hasn’t been “switched off” as can happen to MANY combat vets who have dealt with death on such a grand scale.
Death is still out there…. It’s why I HAMMER the gym so ferociously…. Am I lifting, boxing and running because I am trying to get away from death? Maybe….but I know that when death comes for me, there is NO PLACE I can hide. Death comes for healthy people, it comes for unhealthy people…you don’t get to choose. The trick is: live like you were dying. …..live every day as if it were your last because you don’t know and you don’t get to choose. …Live your life, take the pics, hug the necks and love-out-loud while you are here in the moment.
~When you have to watch~
So with this in mind, I thought it might be a good idea to talk about what happens when you “have to watch”…that is when you know death is coming and you are REQUIRED to be an active part of the process.
Recently, I had to watch the terrible fallout from death coming for a battle-buddy of mine “Bo” Greenwood who passed away on May 10th. Bo was one of the 22 Vets a day who take their own lives. We are left behind on this earth to deal with his wife and son…supporting them and crying with them as we try to help them rebuild and move on in the face of an unsurmountable setback and devastating set of circumstances that life has presented them with. I wish he would have reached out…I wish I could have been there for him in some of his darkest moments to let him know that we are all here for him and that things really will get better. In the end each person makes their own choices…and this set of choices in these circumstances lead to his untimely demise and our unfathomable sorrow.
Most everyone knows that we all lost one of my ex’s recently. During my time with her, one of our most hottest and deeply contested points of disagreement was on her taking care of her body. I knew every single moment I was a part of her life that she had untreated hypertension. I knew it, I tried to get her to go get seen about it but in the end the fighting proved to be too much…and I relented.
I can’t tell you how much I have blamed myself in the wake of her loss. I feel like I KNEW as a scientist and still was ineffective as a communicator. If I had stuck with it, if I had made sure that she got in and put her health above all the other details in her life; she might still be alive today. Because let’s face it….raising kids will fill your life up with details….and in her case they did. She was someone who always put her kids first and it was difficult to convince her that keeping herself healthy was in her kids’ best interest because it would mean more time with them…. Again, TIME is the optimal word here. The moment we take time for granted is the moment we run the risk of losing TIME with the people we love.
I will have to live with that….just like I live with the rest of my experiences with death….Maybe I could have done more in each of them…maybe not.
Two weeks ago my Brother In-Law Jeff, who has been fighting Cancer since it was discovered in his lungs in 2014, was re-admitted to the VA Hospital here in Houston. His lungs were filling up with fluid again and he had the fluid drained off and underwent some pretty severe chemotherapy that nearly killed him
We pulled Jeff out and put him in MD Anderson Cancer Centers where we were presented with the fact that he is down to just half of a useable lung left and that his days are numbered…that we should make the most of the TIME we have left with him.
It’s difficult to watch…. Jeff was a BEAST of a Marine…

At 5’10” he was the model Marine physical specimen for all of us “not tall” Marines who pride ourselves in being “stacked like a brick shit house.”
He is fun to be around and always had a positive outlook even after the cancer was discovered that we believe stems from his time in Iraq.
Again, we will have to watch death in this, some of the last moments of his life as he is down to half of a “useable” lung and won’t ever recover from it. The phrase “make him as comfortable as possible” was invoked long ago and we are doing just that as we try to make the most out of the TIME we have left with him.

When you have to watch…..it’s different… I have been there with my fallen brothers and held them in my arms when they went… that shift in the eyes where you can tell that the soul finally detaches and walks away from looking through the eyes out into the world as the soul passes into the next life.
When you have to watch…it’s not like the movies at all. There’s nothing glamorous, there’s no heroic music, there’s just that moment when you watch it happen. Or as the case was with my ex…when someone calls you on the phone and tells you that something you knew was coming…finally happened.
When you have to watch, if you haven’t seen it before, it changes you profoundly…. You realize just how precious these moments are. You expect and demand that your time is valued by everyone….you dump people out of your life who aren’t respecting your time….you hold the ones just a bit tighter who do.
In the end, watching someone die is something that many of us are faced with and many of us don’t understand or talk about. As Christians, we know that life goes on. As Marines, we know that our job is just starting ‘Guarding the streets of heaven.’
With the acrid political environment we all find ourselves in, so very many people take life for granted….they can throw around sayings like “Black Lives Matter” while missing the point that ALL LIVES MATTER. We take for granted the fact that we live in a country where you can go to prison for taking a life….because it is so very valued.
Life, in any context, is valuable. Watching the end of someone’s days should only serve to underscore the precious gift of life we have all been blessed with.
Death should make us all appreciate life more. As stated above and throughout my journey in my days that are ahead of me, I will always try to respect life and my time with all of you.

Norma Jeane,
How do I do this?
I hope it makes sense now...why I took so many pictures; you have to have 'Walked Through The Valley' to get it.
They say Blondes are "Either BADASS or MORE FUN" and you were absolutely both.
I can still hear you:
'I don't know how they do it at East but THIS is how real Duluth gals do things!'
'Who's up there? ...GREAT....Mark & Jules...."
'Take only the good, leave the rest'
'Stay close'
...all of it.
You fought the good fight down here....
I want to say "So I will leave you with this" but we both know you will never leave my mind...and that I will see you again.
So let me say the words they say at many Marine Funerals and that they will say at mine... you lived your life out loud and ON PURPOSE and so I think it's fitting for warriors:
"When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home. -Chief Tecumseh
I'm going to miss you down here.
My very own 'Passion Killer' if only for a moment. ;);)
...'Stay Close'... -M

...all of it.
My very own 'Passion Killer' if only for a moment. ;);)

Spring Update 2016
Welcome back!
It has been a while! I think it has been nearly a year right? For the public side anyway and that’s a long time so let me do my best to get you all caught up!
Sooooo we finally finished the Clearwater Property!
Over 4100 Square feet on a little over an acre! Perfect!
The build was a long one that lasted about 8 months which was ahead of schedule given the weather that we experienced in the fall.
It is a smart-home so there was a few weeks of lag while all of the electronics went in.
That being said, it’s gorgeous and WE LOVE IT!
Now that it’s finished we can turn toward other things.
So speaking of, Hayley is 16 has her own car and is driving back and forth to Varsity Danceline that she just got chosen for!

The leaders of some of the OPEC nations have signaled that their reserves (that they have flooded the US market with) are dwindling as we knew they would and this has directly translated into a barrel uptick as demand begins to pick up for the summer months.
I was promoted yet again last year and Angela does her level best to keep me supported as I am flying off to different cities on a regular basis.
We are having the house dedicated soon by Pastor Jeff and the housewarming is on the 14th of May. Same day as I graduate to a new belt in MMA. THAT should be a stressful day lol Having to get ready to host so many people for the first time at the house as well as the physical exertion of testing into a new belt.
Meh, we’ll handle it and get through it just like we always do. One step at a time!
I think that’s about it. Now to drop in some pics for ya’ll.
I hope that you all are well and that I see you out there in cyber land! Don’t be a stranger! No reason why you can’t hit me up and friend me! But hey, if visiting here once in a while and lurking is more your speed, that’s ok too.
Whatever you decide, be blessed.

Hayden played his first year of tackle football last year and is busy playing soccer and baseball this spring. He finished off basketball and is currently pitching for the Rangers in little league... there literally is not one sport this kid doesn't like...he does them all!
As far as Angela & I go, we are staying busy as the non-stop world of Top-Ten Fortune 500 and being a teacher demands we stay.

Petroleum: Being Up In A Down Market
So, the petroleum industry.
Lots of you have asked me to explain what the current state of things are and where things are headed. So, since it is spring and time for all things new, here we go.
Soooooo As many of you know, Opec is made up of several nations. Iran, Saudi Arabia etc. We within “The Bigs” have been VERY successful in our endeavors of getting product OUT of the ground and refining it in a better, more cost effective manner that is great news for the American economy that sees LESS dependency on foreign oil and more job-producing expansion here at home.
It’s simple really…. And it doesn’t take a PhD in Business to figure it out.
Supply and demand is what it boils down to.
The Saudis….not Iran…. Not some rogue anti-American entity out there hell bent on undermining American lives… The Saudis know that we are experiencing this boon and are doing what they can to see us struggle. The Saudis are in command of one of the largest supplies and stockpiles of petroleum on the planet. ….and so it follows that in order for them to stay “King” (not so ironic pun) of it all…they flood (also a great pun) the market with product, causing demand to go down and us all to pay less for production here at home as we can get product “on the cheap” enjoying all the Saudi product.
They do this because they want to flatline our drills and wells…. They want to drive them so far into mothballing that they “Never” come back. It is WELL known that this was their goal from the start….flood the market with product until the Biggs are COMPELLED/FORCED to ease operations and relinquish their fast-growing “control” to who has always had it…”The Kings/Saudis”…
As we speak we are in the middle of this. When the market closed yesterday, we closed at $59.17 and this is a modest improvement after where things were (in the upper $30’s) around the holidays.
Oil has its ups and downs…. It just does. Most of us know this and as consumers we can all most likely remember times in our lives when our price at the pump has been a happy or sad experience!

Here’s the kicker though….. ….. as far down as we have gone…. Smart investors know that the Saudis supply is FINITE…. …..meaning there is an END to the flood they are pounding out into the market right now. Investment in petroleum stocks is where the smart money is right now. You have to be a complete fool with your money not to at least be buying in at some levels right now.
I think that my Roth is a pretty decent spread of many things…but I have to admit I HAVE taken control on some levels and covered the bigs as we get set for this remarkable rebound.
The Saudis know they cannot keep this up forever. They know we can call back all of our laid-off field workers in a quick minute and start collection/production right back up again. …they gotta be scared…because at THIS point… we (The United States) are set to essentially render OPEC useless. Without the stockpile they have run through…they no-longer have domain over world oil prices and they are set to be controlled by those nations who are self sufficient.
Now, I am CERTAINLY NOT trying to offer yall advice on the stock market OR on what or where we will move with PSX in the near future…. BUT… what I CAN say is that we will most likely rebound considerably into a more realistic $70-$80 range before it’s all over. That is a modest but worthwhile improvement to all of us stockholders and it is a true statement to OPEC that we are “over it” when it comes to their shenanigans.
….there I said it.

On to the Fam
Soooo, Hayley has tried out for and made the Varsity Dance Line. She has been working in her ballet classes all year and she is really excited to start and get involved over the summer and fall.
She has finally started with the whole boyfriend thing much to my dismay. She has already been through a nice young lad named “Dyllan” and is now seeing a junior …don’t know what his name is…lol like it matters…
That being said, we have seen a miraculous turn-around in her behavior and she is a completely different person when it comes to her contributing to the family and interacting with Angela, Hayden & I. It’s just so amazing to be here and in the moment as we shape and mold this young lady and get her ready for college. Wonderful.
As far as Hayden goes…. Hayden is capping his first year in the Minors playing second base and pitching. We have worked diligently to get him enmeshed within player-pitch normalcy of the Minors and he came through his first moments of being struck by baseballs like a champ.
In fact, during one of his first games, he got hit in the face and suffered …..) some say “Was awarded” the way ye strutted around with it) a black eye for his efforts as well as the game ball as he refused to stop playing during the game after suffering the injury.
Angela & I have also seen a shift in our property acquisitions. We sold our initial development when two lots along the bay came open up here off of the 2354. We REALLY want a bayside property to develop instead of developing on land and then purchasing a beach house in Galveston.
Once negotiations are complete with the county and we close on the Victoria property, we will begin constructing either at the bayside location or the Sellers Station location as K Hovinian offers the Mandalay floor-plan we are both happy with.
It will mean that we press ahead with the Galveston acquisition but the bonus here (and really the governing element) is that the kids stay in the Barber's Hill School District of Mont Belvieu. A top-notch Texas district, the kids enjoy stability as well as a well rounded life outside of the classroom in extra curricular activities. And stability is the name of the game here. It's why they are straight A students and what we sacrifice for. 4,000 square feet on an acre and a half will be just the kind of sacrifice they need to ensure they thrive.

We shall see…. All good things in time. Angela has 17 more days before we retire her from teaching. I can’t wait. Sheldon has really beat her down as contractual issues have caused them to move her out of her comfort zone and into teaching some real shitheads. I know that’s a tough sell to a third grader but….when you are in THAT part of Houston…it’s like being from Duluth….unless there’s a miracle…you can count on having a shiitty quality of life, never making it out of the city and a life filled with new and exciting ways you tell the world how “Great it is there”. …that’s not mean, it’s just reality….when you live in an “opportunity litter box”, what difference does it make if you stick it in the freezer 9 months out of the year? “Oh my god! There’s snow!” lol…. when it thaws out it’s still shit/gross.
Sheldon, will go on….but in my opinion the majority of teachers in this country would be wise to bail now on this bastardized form of primary and secondary American instruction; home grown by the Obama Administration. It’s gross, it BEYOND micromanaged and it’s just time for the good people to get out. We are pulling Angela so that she can focus on being a mom, do Consulting work and basically live the stress-free life she deserves as my wife.
I think that’s about it for the spring update. Will be back around the fall for more.
Take care and be good ya’ll!
Our Best,
